Now training with Thomas Johansson and his other coach, Medvedev has steadily improved in the last few weeks - culminating in a tightly fought three-set triumph over opponent Moutet.
This marks Medvedev's first trophy following the Italian tournament and maiden on a hard surface from that period of 2023.

"This marks the first occasion I am participating in a event with my children together, so to win a trophy is especially meaningful," commented world number 14 Daniil Medvedev.
"This title is in dedication of my child my daughter, because the first title I achieved when my child Alisa was born was for her."
Medvedev, the former major winner, had failed in his previous six championship matches, comprising in the German tournament in the past months.
The player's counter-punching play style and regular emotional displays on court had led observers to wonder if his ability to play at the highest level was over.
However the 29-year-old has made changes in recent weeks, making an effort to come to the net and perform positively, backed up by an enhanced serving game.
He fought back from a deficit in the first set against the difficult Frenchman, taking four of the final five exchanges to gain the advantage.
The competitors exchanged breaks in the middle set before Moutet, striving for his maiden tour title, gained dominance to create a decider.
Moutet defended four early-game opportunities in a tight third set before the champion secured a break to 15 to secure the win.
Appropriately, he secured the win with a shot at the net area, with Moutet unable to control a volley after a lengthy match.
